Summary of Lesson 4

In this lesson, you recognized the critical role stewards play, not only in the present operation of the union, but also as the leaders of the future.

The story of Candy Jackson’s bus and T-shirt rally and additional topics described how to mobilize members for union activities, the importance of lifelong learning and training, as well as helping to shape the union’s agenda.

Finally, the case study story of Malcolm Barnes modeled the kind of thought and reflection stewards practice when they think of their successors. The assessment invited you to demonstrate that you, too, are capable of that same thought and reflection.
