Basic Steward Training

Currently, three online courses are available in the Basic Steward Training Program:

  1. Know Your Contract - provides basic knowledge of the collective bargaining agreement, specifically the contract for the Professional, Scientific and Technical Services Unit (PS&T) to interested PEF members, staff, and elected representatives.

  2. The Many Roles of the Steward - provides PEF members, staff, and elected representatives with an overview of the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for steward service.

  3. Introduction to Robert's Rules of Order - This course focuses on parliamentary procedures and a basic overview of Robert’s Rules of Order. Specific topics covered include procedures which come up frequently at PEF meetings such as Making a Motion, Amending a Motion, Point of Order, Point of Information, Point of Privilege and Adjourning a Meeting.

As other courses are completed, they will be added to the PEF Training Center.

Note: A CD-ROM version of Know Your Contract is available for persons without Internet access, but who have a computer equipped with a CD drive capable of playing multimedia.
